These two dolls are apparently variations of so-called Däumlinchen Dolls which have been produced in the Käthe Kruse workshops in Donauwörth (Bavaria, Germany) since ~1957. Däumlinchen dolls generally stand 10 in. tall with a wire skeleton giving the dolls great flexibility, a soft foam head, hand painted facial features, and real hair wigs styled with much care to detail. They are based on designs made by Hanne Kruse, one of Käthe Kruse’s daughters.

For obvious sociocultural reasons, these black Däumlinchen dolls are exceedingly rare.
